IAAF convention coming in January

In just a few weeks, the Sangamon County Fair will be very well represented at the 2020 IAAF Annual Convention.  Miss Toby Giganti, the 2019 Miss Sangamon County Fair Queen, will join 72 other county fair queens as they vie for the title of Miss Illinois County Fair Queen for 2020.  Toby is in her second year at the University of Illinois and is on track to graduate with plans to attend law school.  After her crowning in June, Toby kept busy traveling to multiple county fairs throughout Illinois as well as participating in several parades and activities as an ambassador for our fair.  In addition to her school and sorority responsibilities, Toby has been busy preparing for the pageant by perfecting her wardrobe, her onstage speech and her interview skills.  Please join us in wishing Queen Toby the very best as she represents the Sangamon County Fair.  Keep smiling Toby, we know that you will do great at the state pageant.  We are proud of you.

The annual IAAF convention will be held in Springfield, Illinois at the Crowne Plaza January 17-20, 2020.
Sangamon County Fair talent winners will be competing on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the IAAF State Convention talent competition to be held at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield.  Jaycee Bates and Reese Brooks will be performing a jazz dance in the junior division.  Emily Miner will be performing a vocal solo in the senior division. Good luck to these three very talented individuals.

New Fair Board Members Elected in November

In November, the annual fair board association meeting was held.  Each fair board member is elected to a three year volunteer term. Directors meet as a whole monthly to discuss planning for the fair.  Each year in November, the association meets to recognize members who do not wish to run again and to open the floor to other association members who are interested in being on the fair board.  This year, the association recognized Lindsay Gordon, Chris Bergschneider and Dale Edwards for their years of service.  Each of these three members decided they did not want to run for the fair board again.  Four other board members whose term was expiring ran for re-election and were voted back on the board.  In addition to the incumbents, there are three new board members now sitting on the fair board.  Those three newest members are Ben Ladage, Garrett Kemp and Justin King.  For a listing of all of our fair board members, visit our Board of Directors page on our website.
